Warren County Jail Overview

Warren County Regional Jail is the local adult jail at 920 Kentucky Street in Bowling Green. The official jail site names Stephen Harmon as jailer and lists the jail apart from the Warren County Sheriff's Office, which is led by Sheriff Brett Hightower. That split matters for records. Booking, roster, inmate mail, visitation, account deposits, Class D, PREA, and jail open-records questions run through the jail, not the sheriff business office.

The jail is regional in name, but it is the main adult jail for Warren County inmates. It can hold newly booked people awaiting court, county-sentenced inmates, females, eligible Kentucky Class D state prisoners, and federal inmates connected to transport procedures. The old jail was at 429 East 10th Street. The current main jail opened in April 1987 after 78 inmates were moved from the old building. Later additions gave the site a Class D building, female and federal housing space, and more beds after jail standards changed.

Warren County Jail Capacity

The Warren County Regional Jail history page reports 562 beds. Its history notes a 144-bed Class D building opened in 1998 for work-release and Class D program inmates, then a 160-bed addition opened in 2000 to house females and federal inmates. The former juvenile section was converted for female Class D use in 2003 and later renovated again for 12 more inmates. WBKO reported on April 16, 2026 that Jailer Stephen Harmon said Warren County has 562 beds and regularly averages between 650 and 750 people in custody.

Those figures should be read as capacity and population context, not as a live roster count. A daily crowding average can include people with different legal statuses, including pretrial defendants, sentenced county inmates, state Class D participants, federal transport cases, and holds from another agency.

2. Search by last name first, then add a first name if the result set is too broad.
3. Use current-inmate or released-since filters only after deciding whether the person is still believed to be in custody.
4. Open a matching profile and compare identifiers, booking date, agency, charges, bond fields, and release information.
5. If the person is not listed, check KOOL, KYeCourts, VINE, BOP, or ICE depending on the custody path.

Public display can change by county configuration. A missing result does not prove no arrest occurred, since the person may be newly booked, released, transferred, held by another agency, or listed under a different spelling.

Warren County Jail Contact

Use the jail front office for inmate information, visiting appointments, account deposits, property windows, jail records, and directions. The official jail pages list a phone, fax, and email. The Warren County Sheriff's Office has a separate law-enforcement records role, but the jailer operates the jail and publishes the inmate-search link.

Warren County Jail Visits

The official visitation rules page says main jail visits are by appointment on Wednesday and Saturday. Family and friends are told to call (270) 843-4606 from 8:00 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. Monday through Friday, unless the front office is closed, and the appointment must be made the day before the requested visit. Class D and dorm visits use separate evening or Sunday blocks.

Mail Money and Phone Rules

Warren County Regional Jail mail rules require proper postage, the inmate name, and a return address. Incoming mail without the sender name and return address is refused, and initials or nicknames for the sender are not accepted. Laminated mail is not accepted. Legal mail from attorneys, courts, and public officials is not read by detention deputies, but it is inspected for contraband in the inmate's presence. Other mail is inspected for contraband or safety issues.

Newly admitted inmates must be allowed a reasonable number of collect calls or collect long-distance calls to an attorney or family within a reasonable time after booking, or as time permits until one call is completed. The phone rules allow at least one collect call each week. Three-way calls may be disconnected, and calls may be monitored or recorded.

Warren County Booking Intake

A typical adult custody path begins with arrest by Bowling Green Police, Warren County Sheriff, Kentucky State Police, or another agency. The person is transported to Warren County Regional Jail unless cited and released, medically diverted, transferred to another agency, or handled through juvenile court and DJJ channels. Intake creates the jail booking record, starts property handling, allows initial calls, and leads to medical or mental-health screening when needed.

Booking charges on JailTracker are not the same as a conviction. Prosecutors may amend, reduce, dismiss, or add charges, and the Warren Circuit Court Clerk and KYeCourts control the formal court record. Warren County Jail Records

The jail publishes an open-records page for records not visible on the public roster. Kentucky open-records law gives Kentucky residents a right to inspect public records unless an exemption applies, and agencies generally must respond within five business days excluding weekends and legal holidays. Records can still be withheld or redacted under KRS 61.878, court orders, security rules, medical privacy, or juvenile confidentiality.
